Post - Tension Concrete

With a collective six decades of industry expertise, our seasoned team brings unparalleled knowledge and skill to every project. Our specialization in multi-family post-tension, slab on grade buildings provides a variety of advantages compared to conventional concrete slabs.

What is Post - Tension ?

The first step to understanding post-tension concrete is knowing the role that the primary materials – concrete and steel – play when constructing these slabs. As previously mentioned, concrete is the strongest when compressed, and steel is the strongest under tension. Post-tension combines both, resulting in a thinner slab that can withstand higher loads when compared to conventionally reinforced concrete. Specifically, it utilizes steel cables (or tendons) protected within plastic tubing and placed in a grid-like pattern through the slab. These tendons are anchored on one end and then stressed to the desired PSI on the other. Once the tensioning is approved, the remainder of the cable is cut before the anchor pocket is grouted and finished.

The result? Thinner slabs with increased load-bearing capacity and enhanced structural performance, all while still offering a cost-effective solution that optimizes material usage and increases project efficiency.

  • Cracking

    Controls Cracking

    - Post-tensioning reduces or eliminates shrinkage cracking. Cracks that do form are reinforced and held tightly together.

    - This also prevents insects from entering the structure.

    - Reduces possible water penetration that can lead to corrosion, damage, and mold.

  • Rebar

    Durable

    - Buildings are more resistant to environmental risks that can cause bending, such as highly collapsible (soft/expansive) soils.

    - Provides improved structural capacity and durability when compared to conventional reinforcing.

  • Concrete Buggy

    Efficient

    - Allows concrete to gain strength faster and enables slabs and structural members to be thinner.

    - Has the potential to significantly cut down on labor costs and streamline project timelines.

    - Can design longer spans in elevated members.

  • Change Spilling from a Jar

    Cost-Effective

    - Pricing is extremely competitive against conventional slabs since structures using this technique require fewer materials and reinforcing steel.

    - Helps reduce future maintenance costs.
